Mule Creek is a historical Texas ranch that was
established in the 1880’s. The Ranch consists of
about 11,313 acres, broken into five main pastures:
The Vat, East Mule, West Mule, Caballos, and the Henio.
The terrain is non-typical for South Texas, from flat hills to cuts.
Some areas of the ranch have been worked through the years so
the bush varies in age. Mule Creek Ranch has been on a protein
feeding program over the past 20 years. We have also added
Cotton seed to the program. The combination has dramatically
improved our Whitetail Deer Herd. We currently have 26 feeding
stations scattered around the ranch. Our Trophy Whitetail Buck
program starts at 160 inch Boone and Crockett with no Trophies
being taken under six and a half years of age. Our highest scoring
season buck in the last five years is a 183 B&C score with bucks in
the 160 - 170 B&C class consistently being harvested. The 2020
deer count showed one deer every 42 acres with a 1.65 doe to
buck ratio. The highest count for our bucks was in the four and
a half to five and a half age range.
